Two Year Anniversary

"If you make it to 2 years post transplant, your risk of recurrence returns to baseline". This loaded statement from my oncologist returned today to be digested and dispelled. The past 2 years feels like a dream but I look back at the posts and pills and recall a vivid reality, and the Herculean community effort it took to bring me here today.
Much has happened since my last blog, and I will bring you up to date:

Erin and Steve at Planet Ice for R2S

In June I joined the Ride to Survive group from Maple Ridge to North Delta. The group rode 400 km from Kelowna, and has raised over 2 million dollars for Cancer Research since it started 9 years ago.

Elgin Park High School spin-athon for PAH ER
Also in June, staff and doctors participated in the Elgin Park Spinathon where the inspired students raised over $40,000 in funds for purchase of equipment for the Peace Arch Hospital Emergency.

Katie and Max
In August my bone marrow donor, Katie Knopf married her partner Max, and we wish them well in their life together. They are going to have their hands full looking after their 8 month old son Wyatt and remodeling their home!

Remarkably, one of my sister Michelle's friends who signed up while I was ill, was just this past  week recruited to donate stem cells for someone else in need. The circle of life continues.

Zoe, me, and Jason at Perissa Beach, Greece
Also in August we took a long awaited trip to Greece with the family. It was wonderful to connect with my parents and extended family in Athens and on the island of Skopelos, and later venture south to Mykonos and Santorini.

This week was the 35th (whew!) anniversary of our high school graduation and chance to get together with pals from Vancouver College at Peace Portal Golf Course. Of note, I was the only non-Golfer.

Todd Hansen and the Coastal Race Club break at Esquires

At a recent Saturday ride with the Coastal Cycling Club the group toasted recovery, and lamented the recent loss of our friend Kerry White.

Thanks to all the medical people, family, and community of friends for helping me make this milestone!

  3. It is no secret that I have a very deep and personal relationship with God. I have pushed and resisted that relationship this past year through all the bullshit I have had to go through living with Herpes but once again, God is bigger than my stubbornness and broke through that outbreak cold sore and all I had Genital Herpes. For me personally, hearing over and over how I am not good enough has really invaded my mind in the worst way possible. I completely shut down and I was just waking up like is this how life going to end this temporary herpes outbreak “fuck everybody with herpes if you know what I mean” but let's be honest here...
It is a cowardly to say no to herbal medicine. It is fear based. And it is dishonest to what my heart wants. Don't build a wall around yourself because you are afraid of herbals made or taking a bold step especially when it's come to health issues and getting cure. So many young men/ women tell me over and over that Dr Itua is going to scam me but I give him a try to today I feel like no one will ever convince me about herbal medicine I accept Dr Itua herbal medicine because it's cure my herpes just two weeks of drinking it and i have been living for a year and months now I experience outbreak no more, You can contact him if you need his herbal medicine for any such diseases like, Herpes, Hepatitis, HIV, Epilepsy, Infertility, Love Spell,. Email..drituaherbalcenter@gmail.com then what's app.+2348149277967.... My advice to any sick men/women out there is simple... Be Always an open book. Be gut wrenching honest about yourself, your situation, and what you are all about. Don't hold anything back. Holding back will get you nowhere...maybe a one way ticket to lonelyville and that is NOT somewhere you want to be. So my final truth...and I'm just starting to grasp this one..
